The hand that feeds you -

Isn't there a saying about not biting the hand that feeds you?! If someone can kindly explain that to my teething daughter - I'd be much appreciative. Getting bit on the breast is FAR worse than the hand in my opinion...ugh.

I emailed my friend Kelly and trolled the internet for suggestions - but thankfully it looks like this phase has passed. It seems little Claire is sprouting a few upper teeth AND lower teeth at the same time. Poor miserable creature, I had to pump so Dan fed her last night and then we rubbed some orajel on her gums and gave her some Tylenol. Once she was half asleep I deemed it safe to nurse her and thankfully I was right.

Honestly, last night was THE hardest hour with Claire. She's sleeping soundly in my lap right now (eyes half open as usual) and we had no problems this morning (phew).

Ok, I feel better after my little vent :-)

My Papoose

Oh how we love our Ergo! I'm thinking a trip to the washing machine is needed for this week, but I'm petrified it will lose some of it's "magic."Claire spends hours each day happily "up up Mommy's back" which is great since I have my hands free to do other things (like blog, wink wink). On the other hand, she's been cutting her teeth on the straps and now they seem to be discoloring a bit. Ewww...here we come washing machine.

Tooth number one is out and through the gum. I managed to snap a few pictures to show it off. The tooth's partner seems to be near poking through too, I can see a gap in her gum where it's starting to come up. How exciting! Aside from Claire's teeth, not much else is

new. Claire's still enjoying new foods (mangoes, blueberries...and an accidental sampling of refried beans) and we've been spending a lot of time swimming.

I'm hoping to have some pictures to share this week from Dan's company picnic. There are some funny ones of Claire sucking on a beer bottle - I was NOT present for this one ;-)In the meantime, here's Claire learning to eat spaghetti. Doesn't it look like she's slurping it up?

Breaking news - I think I finally have a tooth spotting to report. Claire's got something sharp poking out of her bottom gums, you can see a hole and feel a sharp edge, I'm just waiting for "visual confirmation" before making the big announcement. It seems Claire WILL have a set chompers (go ahead, breathe a sigh of relief if you were worried).

I get hate emails from the aunties if I post an entry without photos, so here are some that have not made their way to the blog yet, they might be a few weeks old and have nothing to do with teething - but enjoy anyway.

Here's Claire chumming it up with Cat and James (she loved Cat's tupperware) and here's Aunt Laurie with Claire in Elmont. I'll try for some new photos today (ideas on how to keep Claire's mouth open for teeth shots welcome).

On a side note, I usually love Babycenter's ideas for playtime. I wanted to share these two which seemed pretty far out, but they would make for some priceless photos. If one of you loyal readers volunteered to clean up the mess, I'd be happy to play "flour power" or "high chair art."
